Thanksgiving was fun! we went to moms and ate a ton of delish food. the kids made turkeys out of mallows, pretzels, candy corns and melting chocolate. some turned out looking less like turkeys than others, but hey you gotta love their creative freedom. AND we got to skype with spud, robin and OLLI MAY!!! our new baby neice! she is beautiful and so alert already. love!

Halloween this year was a sad one. We were running late and didnt plan well so i gave myself crazy hair with a black streak at the last minute and maggie wore a cute skeleton sleeper that aunt carla sent her. John had to work til 9 so he didnt get to be anything. at least mags looked cute for her first halloween!

I took off the arms because our space is too small to get in and out with them on.

I like the new fabric and it was way easy. John wants to sand and restain them to match the table we built.

We moved into an apartment about 2 months ago and I've been slowly making it home, one craft project at a time. Here's how I made two simple pillows.

-I had two double-sided placemats that matched the general color scheme of my life/living room, green and blue.

-I carefully used a seam ripper to seperate the front and back. opened them a few inches, enough to fit my hand through.

-Then I stole stuffing from a pillow that I was not so fond of.

-I Stuffed the pillows pretty full cuz hubby is hard on things and I didn't want them to go flat. Then I pinned the edge shut to keep the seams even and sewed them closed trying to match the original thread used.

viola! sooo quick and I got the placemats for like 50 cents and the old pillows that I used the stuffing out of were free. I love them.

I am 26 weeks pregnant. Its a girl! Our due date is August 28th. Her favorite place to kick (or punch) is the edge of my right side ribs, and she is most active in the evenings (during american idol).

Here is an ultrasound picture of her cute little face. She looks like shes wearing a hat, she was inspired by the royal wedding. Like mother like daughter!

We went to boston last weekend for Johns dads bday. It was super fun. We walked pretty much the entire city and saw paul reveres home and the church he hung the lanterns in. and i was told that the pic of the building below is where the declaration of independance was read off that balcony to the people. this is us in Cape Cod. we found two good size sand dollars that didnt even break on the way home! Giant sea turtle. he was at least 3 1/2 feet wide.

we ate his cousin for lunch the day before.

coolest sea horse ever. it took me a minute to find him in the tank with all his leafy goodness to hide him.

The penguins were the best.

the penguins were so super fast and the stingray had to be at least 4 ft across wing to wing. crazy huge!

Valentines Party 2011! They had a lovelyful lunch (fruit dip was the favorite, hands down), Cupcake decorating, scavenger hunt, bingo, obstacle course,lots of random games, decorating goodie bags and making tissue paper flowers.

Pizza Pies! this was fun the kids loved it. so did i. emma put so many toppings on hers that it looked like a mountain of nasty when it was cooked and she helped someone else eat theirs instead.

Lucky for me, John won tickets to a suns game at his work christmas party. It was a really fun date! mostly because it was the gorillas birthday so a bunch of his mascot buddies were there to celebrate. which was obviously the best part. Oh and the Suns beat the Cavaliers like 100 to 106, it was really close the whole game.

Christmas was great, All the family was in town because hayden and megans wedding was the week before and that made it so fun. I made a rudolph pinata for the christmas eve party, it was a hit. haha, get it.

John got a pez dispenser that looks just like him and a violin, and i got lots of clothes!

For halloween I was actually at the International Quilt Festival and Market with Abbey Lane Quilts. It was great and hopefully I will be posting progress on my first quilting project soon. Before halloween though we...

carved pumpkins with Nicole & Kevy and Weston & Anna. Nicole had an awesome party complete with goodie baskets.

Made decorations for the house out of cardboard and paint

Made a devil costume for Guy. he looks really happy to be wearing it.

and went monster mini golfing. It was indoor and the walls were painted with special paint that made them glow when the black lights were on. Super cool.

We are in Florida now! we move into our apartment next friday. I got a full-time job at an online scrap booking company called scrapyourtrip.com. John and uncle Kevin fixed the (hopefully) last problem with the car. We are excited. I think the thing that I missed most about Florida was the big trees with spanish moss hanging from them. so beautiful.

I made a banana pudding pie and it was sooooo yummy! and super duper easy, kids could do it almost completely on their own!

First the graham cracker crust

1 1/2 cups graham crackers -crushed

1/3 cup white sugar

6 tablespoons butter -melted

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Mix and press into an 8 or 9 inch pie plate.

Bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes.

Let cool.

When the crust is cool follow the directions on the pudding box. Mine had me put less milk for a pie than for regular pudding. Line the crust with thin cut bananas! Yummo.

Then I used my carrot peeler to put some chocolate on top. The crust was really good, I used honey graham crackers though so it was extra sweet, next time I would put less sugar in it. The bananas were the best part, they added so much yummy flavor.

So I made a fantastic jewelry holder because I have a ton of jewelry and it was all sitting in a box.

I cut the wood and sanded most of the edges flat then i had to sand one end of each vertical piece into the rounded shape of the horizontal piece so they would fit together like a puzzle. not the easiest thing ever.

I nailed and screwed it all together onto a base.

Then I spray painted it this fantastic purple color!

I love it. Now I need something for my earrings!

We went to the skate park on a free day this week and Guy went nuts! We were the only people there so we let him off the leash and he tried so hard to keep up with John. Finally he got too tired and quit. But he never stopped barking.

A couple weeks ago we took a hike up Fay Canyon and saw a really cool arch but we forgot to take our camera so you will see it next time we hike that trail.

This time we did the same canyon but a diff trail that was also neat. It led to an indian ruin that hides behind a small waterfall (it was only trickling but still cool).

This guy lives in the ruin.

Yay for spring! but its already starting to get too hot to sit in the car without the AC blasting. :(

I made this wreath for our front door out of a twiggy wreath and I tied two sprigs of spring-ish flowers to it. I got the supplies at michaels

Also I made these eggs with the kiddos out of cardboard eggs from michaels, tissue paper, ribbon and mod podge. Im not sure what i'm going to do with them yet but im thinking of growing some wheat grass and putting them in that. like a little indoor easter egg hunt. except no hunting.

So for St patty's day I made corned beef and cabbage in the crock pot, mommas yummo butterygarlic rolls and these festive sweet cuppin cakes. And for extra kicks and giggles and because i needed to fill space on a shelf I printed out this sheet and put in a frame.

A couple weeks ago some of us girlies went to Mary Poppins, Broadway's perfectly magical musical! It was at thegammage theatre. Going to plays at gammage is one of my favorite things!! the part I loved most in this play was the chim-chiminey-chim-ciminey-chim-chim-cheree/step in time scene because the songs and dancing are great AND Bert walked up one wall across the ceiling and down the other wall of the stage. it was fantastic! I had fun, thanks mom, sisters, grandma and carly!

Dont mind the winter birdies that are still up. they are too cute for me to put away! plus it did snow this week so they are welcome here. and mom dont even say that the fireplace is dirty, I tried to clean it but the soot loves the cracks. :(

Yesterday I made a shamrock garland out of salt dough from lisa's blog. I wanted to paint them but im low on supplies and there are no craft stores nearby so i used an old ink pad, glitter that mom gave me and mod podge. then I just used thread to hold them together and rocks from the back yard to hold them on the mantle.

Meet Charlie Dude-Guy Hall.

He goes by Guy. He is 3 months old. His hobbies are hunting worms in the back yard, hiking, chewing on things and going potty on the things he doesnt chew on. The tips of his ears get wet when he drinks out of his water bowl. He has tons of energy and it took me a million pictures to get a good one, he kept attacking the camera. :) he stinks. really bad. hes not dirty or anything, its gas.

To celebrate his birthday, Johnny and I went on a helicopter tour of Sedona!! I was so excited and it was the most fun in the world!

John got to sit in the front with the pilot and all the buttons and he got the best view!

I was really excited about the headset. totally legit.

This was the view by where the copter took off. soo prettty! and just think, some people are lucky enough to see this every day. :)

Today I found a recipe in the ward cookbook and followed the instructions to a T. I was so proud of myself when I took the bread out of the oven and it looked so perfect!

Then I cut a piece and pulled it out and all of the insides of the bread oozed into the empty space. :( NNNNOOOOOOO! I popped it back in the oven but i doubt I can salvage it. I will never try that recipe again! and i was so happy to not waste those brownish bananas!

My list of resolutions this year mostly has to do with being all around healthier, strengthening talents and gaining new ones, but my #1 new years resolution for 2010 is... any guesses? Drumroll...
Finally moving in with my husband!! seriously though I will be moving to Sedona by February and if i dont then i will go crazy! The company has meetings set up with all employees over the next two weeks to breif them on the changes and the office plans to move between the 15th and 20th so hopefully I will be outta there by Feb! It seems pretty legit this time guys so keep your fingers crossed!
Anyhow I'd say i started this year off pretty good so far. I woke up this morning and cooked some french toast poured some OJ and johnny was treated to breakfast in bed. Then i planned dinner for tonight and tomorrow. Im already in the running for wife of the year. woohoo

Our first Christmas together was fun. We tried to figure out how to please both our families, I dont know how well it worked but the effort is what counts.
I made us matching santa hat stockings! boring but they get the job done. maybe we will add a little flaire to them next year.This was our first Christmas tree. there was an angel at the top but somehow it didnt make it in the photo. I know it looks like there are only like five ornaments on it but really there are red green silver and clear ornaments, so dont judge.The traditional hall photo. One of my favorite traditions of all! Capturing the very tired/excited faces of loved ones. It was a very good Christmas.

stacking rocks is one of the many fun things to do in sedona. John balanced the bottom one out from the rock face and then carefully placed the others on top. It took like 20 minutes to get it and johns was the coolest one on the trail!

Since my work keeps extending the end date, I get to work from home and be in sedona on thursdays and fridays now! hopefully I will be a real Sedonan by January 15th!

Today i saved a mans life.

So here is the heroic story...

I was sitting at the front desk when all of a sudden a very panicked looking man rushed into the office and said he needed help.The panic on his face worried me thinking someone had a heart attack or something really serious. I asked what was the matter and he said that there was a man locked in one of the bathroom stalls. The door knob was broken and just kept spinning around in circles. hahaha. oh my goodness for a few seconds i thought i would have to call an ambulance or give a statement to the police. I called the building maintenence and they came up to release the poor man in the stall. It would not be funny to be the one in the stall and im sure that he was very grateful to the other man who did not think it was funny either. And that ladies and gentlemen is an act of christmas service

Mom put together the most beautiful bouquet I have EVER seen!

Crystals mom decorated our cake and it was fantastic. Plus it was delicious!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving was fun! John came to mom and dads for the day and then we visited his grandparents and went to Sedona for the weekend. Friday morning we got up at 4 to drive to the walmart in flagstaff and it took us 15 minutes to find a parking space! at 5 in the morning!
Only on black friday would that happen! anyway we got ourselves a desktop comp. and a PS3 for Johns christmas present. and guess what? He opened it right when we got home so no christmas for John this year!

My love for Harry Potter is not a secret. The new movie was soo good. They could have done better with the ending, but I still loved it. The books are still way better so John and I read the seventh one together after we saw the sixth movie and guess what... He is now a hard core potter fan!! He wanted to read it every chance he got and when it was over he convinced himself that JK Rowling will somehow write another one. How sweet it is to share an obsession with my spouse.

I am truly amazed by these shoes. Its one of those ideas that is so simple that every girl will probably feel dumb for not thinking of it before! Duh! The shoe has a sole with elastics that you loop ribbon through, so you can make it look however you like! genius.

This is a wonderful cake that Ben and I made. It looks and tastes great. Ben was so excited and proud of this! he had me cut it right in half since we each did half the work.

FYI Coffee cake contains no coffee, it was eaten with coffee (like at a tea/coffee party) and thats where the name comes from.

This post is mostly just for my siblings to know what i've been thinking and doing lately, you can give me advice if you feel the need.
a few weeks ago i got glasses to see if my vision was part of my headache problem. it wasnt and i returned them.

my hours at work got cut in half because im so efficient and they dont have enough work to give me to fill a 40 hour week.

i changed my mind about being a pastry chef and looked at some beauty schools. i made a plan to get an associates in business and a hair cutting certificate and open a salon. then i changed my mind. i looked at the bryman school, they give assisting certificates in the medical feild. i thought about radiology (x-rays and sonograms and such) but thats too much math for me. medical assisting (like a family doctors assistant) but blood is not my forte. dental assisting, cavities plaque and drilling teeth is gross. BUT... dental assisting in an orthodontic office equals nothing too disgusting. so i thought about that. and im still thinking. i went an toured the school and i like it. its a nine month program including an externship, i will get a certificate that i can come in and update anytime im feeling rusty for free. its valid anywhere in the US and it sounds good to me. but im not sure, it would create stable and nicely paying job opportunities for me, but i dont know if i would be really happy doing it.

at the beginning of the year i had a plan to buy a car within 4 months, my job gave me enough money to allow that. now if i dont get a second job it will be longer. im bummed, i have been trying really hard though. ive been going through spending all my money withdrawls. i know how rebecca bloomwood (confessions of a shopaholic) feels.

i want to plant some flowers in the back yard. i wanted to plant them against the back wall of mom and dads bedroom but dad said no (he didnt tell me why not) he wants them by the pool. i think this summer the kids will trample them though.

anyway, thats been me the last month. love you all.

valentines day was super fun! Lisa, Cindy and Dusty's kids came over for a kids valentines day extravaganza! I didnt get pics of everything but the party consisted of making candy necklaces, making valentines and treat bags, guessing how many m'n'ms in the jar, watching 'be my valentine charlie brown', having a dinner of animal shaped chicken nuggets and fries, decorating cupcakes, a heart hunt and general activities that children creatively come up with on their own! I think that everyone enjoyed themselves very much.

These guys were just walking around the neighborhood! how beautiful is that!!

We drove to Utah for new years and my cousin kevy's wedding. it was fun to see family, and weddings are such a happy time. While we were waiting outside the temple Hayden saw a friend that lived in Ukraine while he was there! What are the odds!

near keri's house theres a guy who creates amazing snow sculptures each year. this year was madagascar themed with all the main characters from the movie. I loved it, so adorable! sorry the pic isnt better.Keri showed us the new house that her family is building. its so fun and the view is spectacular!Blake flashing his playground gang signs, Kallin's funny face and Porters frankinstein/serious face.
I just love being around my family! they are so fun!

I don't know how Cindy and Christian avoided my camera, but cooper had a different plan.
I decorated the tree this year, which was a traumatic change for one particular family member (who would comment about how they wished the tree looked the way mom always decorates it and that mine was a disaster, every time they walked in the room.). I did miss the warm feeling that comes with the way mom decorates, but she didn't mind not having to dig out her Christmas box.
It was a nice way to top off a good year.

My first time donating blood made me happy to do it but i sure do hate needles. There was a drive going on at my work so Hayden and i decided to do it. The thought of it and the way it felt just made me too squeemish! But i didnt cry! who knows maybe i will feel in the spirit of giving blood again. but probably not any time soon. My favorite part was when they gave me a sticker that said "Be nice to me, I donated blood today"
Not that the command actually worked. :)

so my office had a pumpkin carving contest. i halfway carved a pumpkin that had random designs on it and decided that i needed help. i didnt technically cheet since there was no rule about where the carved pumpkin came from, we were just told to bring in a carved pumpkin. so i put others to the task! so the point of the story is, johns pumpkin won first prize in my office pumpkin carving contest! i love it!

crystal won second place.

ryan (from finance) and his son won third place. its not carved, but its cute. and creepy, it has a growth on its head and you cant see it but hes holding a tylenol bottle in his hand. hehe.

The little office that i work in is one of about 50 in a big building but we are the only office who decorates for every season. this is what we decorated for fall.Our office is on the fourth floor and bringing those bales of hay up left peices of hay and the smell of farm all over the elevator, halls and lobby. and then thay made us put flame retardant all over them which only intensified the smell!!

And lucky me, I get to work with my best friend!!

When i saw this plant at the store it reminded me of dr. suess' fantastical world. since i love all things fantastical, i bought it. even though i have nowhere to keep it.
im not good at keeping things alive so i did some research on it and oh my goodness! i found a photo of a 30 year old one that was in "bloom" and when i said the small one reminded me of dr suess it is nothing compared to this one!!!!!! soo cool and completely unique!

I got my macbook laptop today, and Hayden got his desktop!!! Mine is black, i really like it! Its so different than microsoft and its frustrating to have to practically relearn how to use a computer, but im getting there. It comes with a video chatting program so hayden and i were learning how to use them together over video in our rooms. It was fun. everyone should get a mac so we can video chat together! Its exciting. We each got an ipod touch too. Those are super cool cuz you can have music movies and photos plus you can access wireless internet from them! geez apple should pay me advertising fees for this blog! anyway, im excited for my cool new toys!

Im working for a company called Springbrook Homes. part of the time im a receptionist and the other part i do financial data entry. i almost cried my first day because i was so overwhelmed. I got more comfortable by the end of the week, but i still have a lot to learn! my favorite part is that i get to work with my bff crystal a few days a week! that makes it majorly enjoyable. Plus i get paid more than my last job!! kaching!

So the other day i was bored and painting my nails but i couldnt decide what color. well i just so happened to be wearing my zebra belt and was inspired! too bad i can only use my right hand to paint my left with such precision, only one hand is painted. :) but it looks cool!!

Florida was so fun! We went to the beach, and i attempted to learn to surf which lasted about 10 minutes, the water was super cold but naturally the beach was beautiful! We also took the boat out on a lake at night to stalk gators which was frightening! I already miss being around my cousins, i love the brutal honesty of saying whats on their mind no matter who is around! Westin is going to be a wonderful missionary, he already shares his testimony with people and everyone knows exactly what he stands for.

Eeesy Cheesy Potato Soup

Note- Boil potatoes first

Bring to a boil:

5 cups water
5 bouillon cubes
1 cup chopped carrot
½ onion chopped
1 cup chopped celery

Boil 20 minutes

Add:

4 large potatoes cubed
1 can cream of chicken soup

Cook 20 minutes stirring occasionally

Add:

velveeta cheese to desired taste

My mom and i were driving around the other day and BOOM! all of the sudden i see the greatest house in the world! This picture does not do this house justice! Its smack dab in the middle of the city, yet it sits on a few acres of land. Its one of the few houses left that was built when phoenix first started to develop. there are wrap around portches, huge trees (one with a tire swing even. classic!) and a large guest house to the side. i was amazed to see this type of old house so close to the busy streets and corporate buildings. I love it.

This right here is the greatest family EVER! I am so lucky to have such awesome and good looking siblings. Its difficult to think about what it would be like to grow up as an only child,or with even one of them missing, very boring. Its like having built-in best friends. I love it.

ive finally been released from my calling as a member of the enrichment committee after two grueling months! (i seriously did nothing.) Today i was put in as the young single adults ward representative alongside hayden, and also on the primary board as the SUNBEAMS teacher!! wow. I actually have to do assignments, talk to people and show up for meetings now! These are my first action callings and im pretty excited! Im guessing it will take some effort, which believe it or not i am willing to do, but im looking forward to doing it and seeing how this will strengthen my testimony!

P.S. in case any of my sisters were wondering, John had a missionary discussion on thursday. I wasnt present, but he and the missionarys both told me that it was enjoyable and such. YIPPEE!!

my latest projects have been signs.
this one i made for my mom for thanksgiving.my sister, lisa, taught me how to make these by
using mod podge to stick the paper to wood.
its pretty easy and i think they look really cute!
this one is made with bead board, ribbon, wire and beads. i strung the beads on the wire and bent them into letters. it took a while but i like the finished product!

With such a busy schedule its hard to find any leisure time! but after about a month of working on it, a couple of minutes at a time, i've finally finished another sewing project!!

A reverseable bag. I love it and feel very accomplished at the moment!!

I created the pattern one day while I was babysitting and thought it was cool.

So i wanted a dress form to design & sew clothes on but my impatience got the best of me and i also didnt want to pay $100. so i looked around on the internet and found ideas for making your own! i wrapped myself in duct tape then cut it off and stuffed it creating a perfectly fitted dress form for under $15!
my first creation off of this form.

second creation, i need to do something with the top but i dont know what.

Im planning to take fashion design classes next semester. hopefully i will be able to make useful and satifactory pieces of clothing when i have a more professional knowledge about the subject!

Well, college is better than high school! but i have to write essays for like every class, which isnt pleasant in my mind! im taking english, math, computers, college success (required?) and a class called teaching the exceptional learner. The teaching class is my favorite so far! i guess i like things that i can see an imediate practical use for like teaching or making things. next semester i will take more interesting classes i hope!
